10 things I hate about Americans
(1) Ignorance - recently an American asked if Darren Rowse was anywhere near Cyclone Larry. Darren lives in Melbourne, Larry is in far north Queensland. Don't worry mate, your only a couple of thousand kilometres off (don't get me started on the imperial system)
(2) Arrogance - just because they're the worlds only remaining superpower doesn't mean that they are better than anyone else. In fact, I consider most countries superior to American in a lot of things, eg. friendliness, talent, skill.
(3) Strong arm action - they believe that using military tactics will give them everything. It might at the moment, but it is causing all the nations that they invade to hate them.
(4) Poor political decision - Americans voted for Bush. Enough said.
(5) Mess around with our language - I hate the way Americans have destroyed the honourable English language. First they screwed around with spelling (Mum, not Mom!) and they have an idiotic accent that instantly makes people angry.
(6) Cultural bullies - Americans try to push their culture onto everyone else. Take the TV show, the O.C. It is the worst show I have ever seen and yet it is being forced upon us. Bloody Americans!
(7) Gun control - in America you can walk around with a gun. What a great idea! How stupid could you be!!! No wonder people are constantly killing each other.
(8) Rap music - an American phenomena that I dislike immensely. I would not even call it music, but they lap it up.
(9) Celebrity worship - actors and singers are at the top of the American social ladder, despite the fact that they don't actually do anything.
(10) Oprah Winfrey - *shudders uncontrollably* - and I'm not the only one.

Hate is too strong an emotion to waste because when we hate we assign a value to the object we hate and often that value is far in excess of what it is really worth.
Never go higher than dislike - when you dislike something you can treat it with disdain.
And disdain is very important, and can tell more to someone that simply violence.

One of these days, I'm going to get out there to Australia and dive the Great Barrier Reef, and soak in the incredible topography y'all have. Of course, I might not make it out there until I'm seriously old and grey, but I suppose one must have a goal to work toward, LOL!
As for Bush, yes, I voted for him. I don't agree with everything he does (can anyone say "fiscal responsibility"???), but I think his policies against terrorism are at least a step in the right direction. And, having many of your countrymen join in the fight has been a wonderful honor - the valor and courage of the Aussies is something for which Americans are greatful.
Yeah, we're a bunch of brawlers sometimes, but you Aussies are pretty good in a bar fight, too, from what I hear! ;-)

wow, with all of this that has been said, i am kind of afraid to visit australia. i have been saving since i was 16. i have always been amazed with all the natural aspects of the country. i really wanted to go learn about wildlife and culture. i also thought about trying to move and pursuing a carrer in zoology. i mean come on, the closest thing i can observe here is a squirrel!

hey everyone. I'm fifteen and i'm an american, and i think people shouldn't stereotype americans. Not everyone is the way some people think, and people should not make judgements on the whole population because of their experience. I'm not ignorant or arrogant(i'm shy, actually, and i love being around people). I really like australia, and i love your accents. I remember i first heard about the country(and continent) through Steve Irwin, but now i'm researching the history of the country because i'm planning on visiting next summer. I was wondering, will people like me if i visit? I can't help that i'm american or that i say Mom instead of Mum. I think both ways are cool. So proves the fact it's not just Aussies who make fun of American accents, i mean look at the Simpsons for pities sake!

Come on, we should be friends. I have to agree with a lot of what you said, but don't let the minority influence your opinion of the majority.
(1) Ignorance - There are a lot of ignorant people. I knew an Australian that immigrated to the US. He sells drugs. Does that make all Australians drug dealers?

(3) Strong arm action - I don't believe military Action will get us everything. I and many americans believe in diplomacy. The Iraq war is a mess and it was poorly planned. I live in America, I didn't plan the war or wars.
(4) Poor political decision - Come on! What other choice did we have? John Kerry is douche! George Bush won because people want less federal government control in their life. It's a classic battle of states rights. It is proven that social issues are better handled on a local level. Maybe healthcare for all Americans is a great idea, if we had the demographics of Canada. Issues like this are better handled on a local or state level.
(5) Mess around with our language - The English language was forced on the original Americans. As an American Indian I don't really mind though. I think it's the cannucks with the funny accent, eh. We didn't just wake up one day with an accent. I could go to parts of the US and barely be able to understand the person talking. The USA is big damn place, it's not like we're the size of England. Of course there is accents and variations just like all English speaking countries.
(6) Cultural bullies - It's not America pushing their TV into your culture. There is a demand for it. This is what Capitalism is all about. I have to agree the O.C. is the worst show ever though! I live and grew up in the "OC", it's nothing like the show. Those homo's make up less than 1% of the real OC.
(7) Gun control - Most places in America you can't just walk around with a gun. You must have watched one too many Michael Moore movies. Are you influenced by Hollywood? It sounds like you believe people should not be responsible for their actions.
(8) Rap music - Rap music is not just American Phenomena, it is worldwide. Maybe you feel like it is bigger than it really is since possibly it has influenced your country more than ours. Rap music is just about dead in the US though, but much like a lot of entertainment and fads it might be longer for your country to be relieved of it.

(1) Ignorance - As a Californian, most foreigners assume that I must live in hollywood and see celebrities all the time. Many have trouble understanding that I live over 8 hours away from there. You really think this is unique to your experience?
(2) Arrogance - Many Europeans, after spending centuries conquering and killing, and having now lost most of their power, like to look down their noses at anyone who acts like they did.
(3) Stereotypes based on one man - Anyone who would claim that Americans think this or that based on what Bush does is ignorant.
(4) Poor political interpretation - In 2004, almost 60 million American people, or about the entire population of Great Britain, voted against Bush. Anyone who knows the first thing about the US knows how divided it is, but some ignorant people like to claim that "Americans voted for Bush", period.
(5) Language- The British spent centuries spreading their language around the world by force, and now whine about how their precious language is being ruined. If they wanted to keep their language pure, all they had to do was keep it in their own country. Now that it has been spread everywhere, it belongs to anyone who speaks it as a first language. Don't like it? Too bad.
(6) Whining about Americans being cultural bullies- You don't want American culture in your nation? Stop spending money on it and paying attention to it and it will go away. Its not that complicated. Aside from the military blunders of the latter 20th century, they've been remarkable and helpful for the world. But yes, I do believe the sense of superiority, which is misplaced, has led some of them to think it's there way or the highway.
If there is anything "they" do wrong, it's assuming others wish to be like them. While they are industrious, innovative, and again...have been a great stabalizing force in the world...I think success of the past...has gone to the head.
They are loosing their way, and sadly we could us the U.S. of the past, not of the present. They are not pragmatic, and are very inflexible in matters of world politics. Again, when i say they, I mean their government.

I am an American living in Australia. I beg to differ with the american person dissing Australians. The Aussies have been very nice to me since I have lived here. I like their accents and I have been told by Aussies they like my accent.
As for the Aussie persons ten ideas of America. I dont like rap either, nor the war, I am just plain not like the Americans you described, neither are lots of Americans.
I think we should instead of saying nasty things about each other ( America and Australia ) be kinder to each other as one day we may be again fighting side by side in a terrible war.
I am the American that started my blog just a bit ago stating, " I am an American living in Australia." To that American that says Australians are lazy...WRONG!!! YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. You know nothing about this wonderful country Australia and the wonderful people that live here. You complain about their accents?? Even people in different parts of the USA have different accents. The Australian accent is quite nice. Also, Australians are not all decendants of prisoners, most are not. But even as for the ones that were, a lot of Americans too are decendants of prisoners or worse..
For the Australians that think Americans all voted for Bush...I did not vote for him and many others did not. Not sure myself what all happened there. Have my ideas about that.
Anyway on January 26th I will be celebrating Australia Day here in Australia. HAVE A GREAT AUSTRALIA DAY!!!

A: Government, Europe used to like America back in the 90's but you can blame your president for your country losing all respect.
B: Iraq War, yes it was poorly planned, if it was a success i dont think people would dislike the United States soo much.
C: Accent, you guys sound like a drunk Irishman, no offense but you guys have the irish accent with a drawl also it is very nasally it sounds like you guys need to blow your nose.
but yeah aside from those facts americans are great.
