The Holidays are finally here!

My eleventh year of schooling has come to an end, and I couldn't be happier!

The best thing about going to school, is the part where you don't have to go, and that time has arrived. Eight weeks of pure bliss. In that time I will be catching up in my computer/xbox gaming, watching plenty of daytime TV, staying up late, getting up late, and eating as much as possible.

I might even be able to fit in some camping, some fishing and a lot of golf. Christmas will be here soon, so even more eating and lazing around will be accomplished then. I will continue to have no social life, but that's fine for me!

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2 is a great game.

In fact, it is one of the best World War 2 games that I have seen, probably ever.
It is accurate in the context and the scenario's, as well as the language used by the soldiers. For example, the Russians are forever calling the Germans 'Fascists,' while the British call them 'Jerries.' The very fact that you can play as the Soviets goes against most of the WW2 games that are made by America. A whole new level of gameplay and accuracy is reached.

One of the coolest things that I have noticed is the names of the British Crusader tanks. Each has an individual names, and I am assuming, that they were all real tanks during that time. Some of my favourites include: Untouchable, Hole in One, Gravedigger, and Hellcat.

Although I havn't finished this great game yet, the entire feel is delicious, and has been a long wait.

Xbox 360 Shortages

The recent Xbox 360 launch has ended in tragedy as not enough consoles were made, and a shortage has occured, leaving gamers in shock. But is this a natural mistake, or something more sinister?

It is possible that this shortage was planned, trying to make it seem that the new Xbox's were so popular that they were sold out within hours. This in turn would result in more people wanting to be 'cool' and following the mainstream of society. As if Microsoft doesn't have enough money as it is...

I could just be a sceptic, and it really is an honost mistake, but I'm not so sure...

Will I ever use maths in later life?

It seems that maths has no purpose but to mock school students.

When will I ever have to find the derivative function of a sine graph ever again?
When will I need to use a number that doesn't even exist? (That's i)
When will I be forced to calculate a matrix or find the angle between vectors?

I am not going to become a mathematician, or do anything of the sort, simply because of high school maths. There is a reason for this rant of mine: Tomorrow I have a Maths B exam and I'm trying to let out some frustration. So before I leave to continue (or begin) studying I will ask you one simple question:

When will I ever use calculus again?

Xbox 360 goes on sale... In America!!!

Once again the Americans have received something before us!
First every single movie came out first over there, but now the Xbox 360 has been released as well. As stated in The New York Times Website:
The transition to a new generation of video game consoles kicks off tonight at midnight when retailers begin selling Microsoft's Xbox 360.
But we, in Australia, don't get it until next year, that's 2006!
We have done our time in waiting for the first xbox and all its games, but now we are mocked once more by the Americans.

For once I want to have the latest and greatest, and show off to them!

Luckily, though, by the time the new Xbox arrives on our shores, a lot of great games will accompany it.

A Current Affair vs Today Tonight

It is my belief that both a Current Affair and Today Tonight are the most biased shows on Australian television, but I wanted to find out which one was more so. I have noticed after much deliberating that if one show has a program on one topic, then the other will try to outdo it with the most ridiculous story they could come up with.

The only purpose these kind of shows seem to have is to display the worst in humans throughout Australia, and then stereotype and segregate them through the use of editing and biased introductions. They are trying to bring the 'celebrity' culture into our fine nation, and are also focusing on body image problems.

This makes their viewers feel bad about themselves; eg. I'm not as rich as that person, that personal is better looking than me. Not everything in life is about money or physical possessions. There are much deeper, more important things.

I have finally come to the answer of which show is the most bias, and on the whole, rubbish. I have considered the message they are spreading, the way they change people’s ideas, and the culture they imply. And the most biased program is... A Current Affair!

There is one reason for this above all else: Ray Martin.

His smart comments just annoy me, and make everything else seem trivial and boring. And if he is the host, then I can imagine who the people making the stories are like.

"Life is Beautiful" - Movie

Life is Beautiful is one of the best movies that I have seen in the recent past. It is a story in Italian (Subtitles) about Guido, a Jewish waiter in Fascist Italy. The tale begins by Guido courting and marrying an Italian teacher by springing up in random places. They have a son named Joshua, and start their own bookshop.

Guido continually ignores the racism towards Jews by explaining to his son that while some people don't like Jews in their shop, others don't like Spanish or Chinese, and he in particular doesn't like Visigoths. Eventually their are captured and sent to a death camp on Joshua's birthday.

To stop his son becoming scared, Guido pretends that the whole camp is a game, were the person who gets 1000 points wins a real tank. This keeps Joshua out of trouble for a while, and because of his stubborness he refuses to have a shower, which turned out to be the gas rooms.

The day of the American takeover of their camp, Guido was shot and killed, leaving Joshua alone hiding by himself. The first thing he sees is one of the American tanks, and believes that it is for him for winning the game. On the way out of the camp Joshua sees his mother and they are reunited.

This story shows the courage and sacrifice that many Jews did during the Holocaust, and I highly recomment it to everyone.
